Aditya Solar
Shops To make renewable energy
products easily available to people and provide them after sale
repair services, the Ministry has been promoting the establishment
of Aditya solar shops (showroom-cum-sales and service centers)
in major cities of the country by providing financial assistance
to State nodal agencies. This assistance is also extended to
manufacturer's associations / private entrepreneurs / reputed
NGOs on case to case basis. Finding the concept of solar shops
very useful for the public, it has now been decided to establish
these shops in smaller cities/towns also so as to make the renewable
energy products easily available to rural and semi-urban areas.
Financial assistance is provided not only for the establishment
of solar shops by government agencies but also by private entrepreneurs
and NGO'S who are able to provide an establishment having a
minimum area of 200 sq.ft. The shops to be established by private
entrepreneurs and NGOs are being identified & recommended
by DAC (District Adviser Committee) as per the guidelines of
MNRE. Under this scheme 13 Aditya solar shops are established
in Maharashtra.
Role of NGOs
NGOs are actively participating in the various
activities of the solar thermal energy programme. They are involved
in creating awareness at various levels by way of organising
workshops, seminars, business meets and running Aditya Solar
Shops etc. Some NGOs are also engaged in the R&D projects
for development of new technologies in the field of solar thermal
energy.
NGOs such as Brahmakumaris, Mount Abu; Ramakrishna
Mission, Calcutta; Planters Energy Network, Madurai; Consumer
Co-ordination Council, New Delhi and Indian Rural Energy Network,
New Delhi are closely working with the Ministry for various
activities. The Brahmakumaris have contributed significantly
to the development of solar steam cooking systems based on parabolic
dish concentrators. The Ramakrishna Mission has been running
an Aditya Solar Shop successfully for several years near Calcutta.
