Potential For Installation of Night-soil-based Biogas Plants in the state of Maharashtra
The installation of night-soil-based biogas plants depends upon the population the no. of citiesand
villages. Places like municipal corporations,
councils, railway stations, bus stands, ashram shoals, hostels; hospitals are best-suited
sites. If you considered an approximate
population of 10 crores of Maharashtra, then there is a large potential for the installation of night-
soil-based biogas plants. At present, an approximate 8,500 N.B.Ps. having an
average capacity from 15 to 35 cum. can be installed.
Achievements
With central financial assistance (MNES) MEDA has
installed 72 nos. community, 32 institutional and 344 nos. night-soil-based
biogas plants and work for another 10 nos. is in progress.
